Net Neutrality

It’s been awhile since we did “School time with Andrea”, don’t ya think? Today’s lesson focuses on Net Neutrality.  Paul and his company, Automattic (which operates —  which, in turn, hosts this blog!) have been fighting tirelessly along side many other internet companies (big and small) to maintain Net Neutrality. If you don’t know what the heck Net Neutrality is, don’t worry, I’ll help you understand it….

You can watch John Oliver’s amaze piece on it from his show Last Week Tonight here. Paul also summarizes the issue in his latest blog post which can be found here.  After you’ve watched and read both of those links, you’ll be an expert on Net Neutrality and will also be armed with impressive cocktail hour small talk! Win. Win.

In all seriousness, this is a super important issue that we should all have on our radars and do whatever we can to fight back.

Personally, I’m standing with Automattic and joining the Internet Slowdown on September 10, 2014.  The slowdown will give my readers a glimpse of what life would be like if Comcast, Verizon, Time Warner, and the other big cable companies succeed at taking over the Internet.
